Respiratory Therapist I, Pediatrics
About the position
Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality respiratory care to pediatric patients.
• Perform approved respiratory procedures and maintain necessary equipment.
• Educate patients, medical staff, and allied health professionals on respiratory care.
• Provide clinical instruction and assess current cardio-respiratory technology trends.
• Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation and airway support following age-appropriate standards of care.
• Perform routine clinical procedures to ensure continuity of care for patients.
• Provide invasive and non-invasive monitoring to ensure patient safety and appropriateness of care.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge to enhance service to customers.
• Ensure age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines.
Requirements
• Graduate of an AMA approved two or four-year program for respiratory care or meets NBRC registry examination requirements.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed to practice as a RCP in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required within 90 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of employment.
