About the position Responsibilities • Collaborate with researchers and IRB members to ensure compliance with human subjects regulations. • Conduct scientific and scholarly reviews of research designs as required. • Determine the applicability of IRB oversight for research projects. • Review and approve non-exempt research projects as an Alternate Member of the HUA IRB. • Analyze research protocols for completeness and compliance with laws and guidelines. • Correspond with researchers to articulate required modifications for IRB approval. • Investigate and resolve issues of noncompliance. • Prepare documents for IRB meetings and compose meeting minutes. • Develop training and educational activities on human research protections. • Lead IRB staff meetings and conduct continuing education for staff. Requirements • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in human subjects research protections. • Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations on human research protections. • Proficiency in MS-Office Suite and strong communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under deadlines. Nice-to-haves • Advanced degree in social or behavioral science, law, or public health. • Experience in an academic research environment. • Familiarity with electronic database and automation systems.
