(TBG), has been a national leader in staffing and executive search for nearly 50 years, and we're looking for a talented individual to support our publishing team for 6+ months.
About the Role
The successful candidate will report to the Director of Publishing Development and provide critical support to our Publishing Team. As an Editorial Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the timely publication of articles, managing the peer review process, and communicating with authors, editors, and conference organizers. Key Responsibilities
- Review Submissions: Ensure that submissions meet ethical standards, and verify that all necessary documentation is included.
- Manage Articles: Oversee articles through the peer review and production processes, ensuring timely publication and maintaining accurate records.
- Communicate with Stakeholders: Provide guidance on publishing processes to authors, editors, and conference organizers, and address inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks that support the success of the Conference Proceedings program, including data entry, file management, and other duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 2+ Years of Editorial Experience: A background in editorial work, preferably in a publishing or academic setting.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage time effectively, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Team Player: Ability to adapt to changing situations, work collaboratively with others, and maintain a positive and professional attitude.
- Willingness to Learn: A willingness to learn new systems and processes, and to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience in Scientific Publishing: A background in scientific publishing, preferably in the physical sciences.
- Knowledge of Publishing Systems: Familiarity with publishing systems, including manuscript management software and other relevant tools.
- Editorial Software: Experience with editorial software, such as tracking and management systems.
