About the Role

As an Electronic Controls Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility. You'll be responsible for providing competent and effective electrical and controls support to Plant operations, executing the maintenance program, and complying with all safety codes and regulations. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and control systems, including industrial equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and control systems, including disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.
  • Read and interpret building and process blueprints, one-line diagrams, and technical data to install and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
  • Test connections to ensure all components are working properly and safely.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and controls issues in industrial equipment and processes using experience, system knowledge, and proper instruments.
  • Maintain motor control centers, switchgear, industrial robots, electronic controllers, transformers, and generators.
  • Communicate with management, engineers, mechanics, and equipment operators to advise them of potential electrical hazards.
  • Install fiber optic cables, coaxial wires, and computers in support of plant telecommunications systems.
  • Execute the maintenance work schedule as provided by your supervisor, making strategic decisions to ensure timely completion.
  • Update the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to maintain accurate plant asset historical records.
  • Ensure safety needs are given top priority in operations support and work execution, adhering to regulations and company policies.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A High School Diploma or GED; technical manufacturing trade or Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience focused on controls and electronics maintenance.
  • Proficiency in controls equipment, including Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and Industrial Networks.
  • Basic Programmable Logic Control (PLC) knowledge and ability to use a computer and associated PLC software programs.
  • Ability to read one-line diagrams, blueprints, and schematics, and interpret technical data.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical power and distribution systems.
  • Maintenance background, including hydraulics, controls, electrical, PLCs, machine tools, and pneumatics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work efficiently under stressful situations.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will be considered a plus:

  • Experience with various Human Machine Interfaces.
  • Ability to execute small and medium projects involving controls equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

Work Environment

As an Electronic Controls Technician, you'll work in a manufacturing facility with a 2x2x3 schedule, 5:00 PM - 5:30 AM. You'll be required to work on multiple levels, including catwalks and ladders, and in extreme temperatures. You'll also need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
