Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Research, Marketing, and Engineering teams to define and create plans that elevate the overall quality of digital experiences.
  • Develop and convey designs, working closely with Engineering to ensure proper execution and implementation.
  • Foster knowledge-driven solutions by partnering with the Research team to integrate customer findings and principles throughout the creative process.
  • Transform ideas, business opportunities, partner feedback, and analysis into a clear, helpful, and positive outcome for Amex Merchants.
  • Regularly share your designs and review the work of other team members to gain insights, feedback, and drive cross-team collaboration.
  • Seek out and share opportunities to refine both individual and team processes, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively, with a flair for visual storytelling, to effectively convey design concepts and ideas.
  • Be an energetic advocate for the Amex Merchant, championing their needs and interests throughout the design process.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design or a related field.
  • Experience working closely with product and engineering teams in an agile environment.
  • Exceptional skills in UX and Interaction design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools, with Figma being the preferred tool.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, explaining how design decisions align with customer and business objectives.
  • A four-year degree in a connected field or relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not essential, the following skills and experiences are highly valued:

  • Experience implementing UX writing and microcopy best practices to enhance the user experience.
  • A comprehension of data engineering and how to apply it to inform design decisions.
  • Experience creating journey maps and service diagrams to understand and communicate a full end-to-end experience.
  • Involvement in design systems and DesignOps, contributing to their development and implementation.
  • Experience working in a heavily regulated industry or on a project with significant design constraints.
