About the Role: Exchange Operator
This is a critical frontline position supporting the Mercy Physician Exchange and Referral Team. As an Exchange Operator, you will be the first point of contact for incoming exchange calls from a diverse range of callers including providers, patients, family members, and facilities. This role is integral to our 24/7 department that serves both Mercy and non-Mercy medical communities, ensuring prompt medical care through efficient call relay and referral services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming exchange calls for Mercy Integrated and non-integrated providers, handling a high volume of calls with professionalism and care.
 - Provide after-hours emergency call relay services, ensuring timely communication to on-call providers.
 - Manage incoming referral calls for patients seeking new Mercy Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) or specialty providers, facilitating smooth transitions.
 - Document patient information accurately and efficiently to dispatch to on-call providers, ensuring prompt medical care.
 - Utilize your excellent customer service skills to handle a diverse range of inquiries and concerns from callers.
 
Qualifications and Skills:
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. An Associate's degree is preferred, demonstrating a higher level of educational attainment.
 - Experience: At least 1 year of customer service experience is necessary, with a proven track record of handling customer inquiries and concerns professionally.
 - Technical Skills: Experience with computers and Microsoft Office is preferred. Proficiency in Excel is also desirable, as it will aid in managing and documenting patient information efficiently.
 - Skills and Competencies: You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Compassion, professionalism, and a positive outlook are essential, along with a strong sense of advocacy and collaboration.
