Job Summary

Under the supervision of our experienced leadership team, the Friday Night Shift Ambulance Dispatcher will perform a variety of skills and functions in support of the Team Operations Center. This includes receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls, participating in the work of a dispatcher/call taker, and performing other duties as assigned. As a dispatcher, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families in need of medical assistance, and your exceptional communication skills, critical thinking, and ability to work under pressure will be essential in providing seamless and quality customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate EMS Computer-Aided Dispatching equipment to quickly and accurately receive and transmit information on medical ambulance calls to our team and contracted clients.
• Evaluate incoming calls to determine the appropriate emergency medical service (EMS) assistance required, dispatching units, and transmitting information and messages upon request and/or according to established procedures.
• Demonstrate extensive communication skills and exercise considerable judgment under pressure, working under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer.
• Operate an EMS Computer-Aided Dispatching console consisting of a multi-button telephone system, base radio, and computer terminal.
• Answer incoming calls, obtain necessary information from callers, and assess the nature and urgency of the call to dispatch the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain the status and location of all EMS personnel and vehicles, transmitting messages and information to equipment and units responding to calls.
• Contact outside agencies as directed by the Manager on Duty, and answer routine questions or refer calls to appropriate departments and administration.
• Consult with leadership on non-routine matters, demonstrating continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.

Essential Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Tennessee Advanced EMT License.
• Superior Customer Service and Critical Thinking Skills.
• Strong multi-tasking and time management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of dispatching experience preferred.
• Previous experience in emergency medical services or a related field.
• Advanced certification in emergency medical dispatching or a related field.
