Position Overview
The Human Resources Assistant (Remote) is a Confidential position that performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the general human resource needs of the organization. This is a fixed-term position with an expected end date on or before Dec. 20, 2024, and reports to the Human Resources Administrator.
Key Responsibilities
- Employee Onboarding and Off-boarding: Assist in employee onboarding and off-boarding on a remote basis, ensuring a seamless transition for new hires and departing employees.
- Employee Support: Answer basic employee questions about compensation and benefits, and provide guidance on organizational policies and procedures.
- HR Administration: Assist in the creation and maintenance of employee forms or documents, process employee status changes or benefits enrollments, and maintain records of completed transactions.
- Background and Motor Vehicle Record Checks: Assist with employee background and motor vehicle record checks, log information for review, and maintain confidentiality.
- Collective Bargaining Agreements: Assist in the administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, including providing support for HR-related projects and initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in human resources, administration, or a related field; experience with payroll and benefits administration is an asset.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Exhibit ethical conduct and maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times.
- Dependable, consistently at work and on time, strictly follow instructions and policy.
- Ability to prioritize, plan and organize work activities, and consistently use time efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good judgment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Computer efficiency in Microsoft and / or Google Workspace products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
- Experience: Experience working in a remote environment or with a distributed team.
- Skills: Familiarity with HR software and systems, such as HRIS and benefits administration platforms.
