DRG Facility Out Patient Coder Remote PRN

• Must be able to work 15-20 Hours a week
Position Summary:
PRN DRG Out Patient Facility Coder. Must have experience knowledge and ability and required to code all of the following: inpatient and/or outpatient hospital records, ED records, Home Health & Hospice records and/or professional fee services for PMG specialty providers or demonstrate coding expertise in a specific specialty deemed a critical business need by PHS Coding Leadership using the ICD-9/10 CM and CPT-4 classification system.
Responsibilities:
• Codes records using ICD-9/10-CM and CPT-4 and coding guidelines.
• Observes and reports unusual patterns in data collection and/or lack of adequate documentation for code assignments.
• Review documentation and provide ICD-10 coding recommendations based on current coding and guidelines.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of coding multiple areas of service and/or specialties or extensive experience in a specific specialty deemed a critical business need by PHS Coding Leadership.
• Reviews patients entire current medical record, assigning appropriate codes including CPT, ICD and MS-DRG (as defined by UHDDS guidelines and CMS
• Maintains and disseminates up-to-date technical knowledge of legal and regulatory information from all appropriate jurisdictions concerning the given business area. This includes but is not limited to all ICD-9/10 CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, and DRG, APC and/or HHRG updates and changes.
• Must be self-motivated, responsive, and committed to communicate with the management/supervisor closely via high tech communication modules.
Qualifications
Qualification
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of IP coding experience
• Must have a CCS Accredited by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Preferred Skills:
• Must be able to complete and pass the company coding exam by at least 95%
• Equipped to work remotely
• Detailed .oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills

• Superb communication and responsiveness
Computer literacy
• Must be comfortable with, but not limited to: Excel, web-browsers, email, electronic health records (non-specific)
• Must be familiar with various technologies such as, but not limited to: security (e.g., Citrix), data collection/abstraction, encoders, web-based applications
• Self-maintenance of skillset
• Maintaining credentials
• Staying current with abstraction/coding rules, manuals, and guidelines
• Prior experience in position applying for
• Motivation; remote work can be team-based, but requires the ability to work independently
• Strong interpersonal skills and tactfulness to be able to effectively communicate with team members and client contacts
Educational Requirements:
The ideal candidate must possess:
• A college degree from
• An accredited nursing program,
• CAHIIM accredited program, or
• Other accredited healthcare program
• Healthcare credential associated with their program of study
• Other healthcare information related abstraction and coding credentials desirable
• May require Background and Drug Screening
