About the Role: Radiology Technologist at Sanford Health

We're seeking an adaptable, confident, and empathetic Radiology Technologist to join our team at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND. As a key member of our Radiology department, you'll play a vital role in delivering quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients and providers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of high-quality diagnostic images that meet provider requests.
  • Ensure accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures, adhering to provider requests and departmental protocols.
  • Implement radiation safety guidelines and conduct proper radiation protection practices during the imaging process to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system with ease, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks, including mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless delivery of diagnostic imaging services.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with the latest advancements in diagnostic imaging technology and techniques.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Licensure with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT) if working in North Dakota.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with call responsibility as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, particularly for certain clinic locations.
  • Registry eligibility with the ARRT, with consideration given to obtaining certification within six months of hire for eligible candidates in South Dakota.
  • Permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health for technologists working in Iowa.
  • Previous experience in a radiology department, preferably in a Level 2 trauma center or teaching facility.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong technical skills in diagnostic radiography, including radiographic positioning, film/image processing, quality control, and radiation protection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring patient safety.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records (EMRs) and other healthcare software.
