About the Role

As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on your own schedule while making a positive impact on students' lives. Our platform offers you the opportunity to choose from a variety of assignments, including day-to-day and long-term positions, across different schools and grade levels. You'll be supported every step of the way by our dedicated team, including a designated Scoot consultant who will help you develop your skills and navigate your subbing journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Adapt to different teaching environments and curricula, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity of instruction and minimizing disruptions to students' learning
• Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff, promoting a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, address concerns, and identify opportunities for growth
• Engage in ongoing professional development, including free online training on topics such as trauma-informed teaching and classroom management

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
• Specialized training or certifications in areas such as Special Education, English as a Second Language, or STEM education
• Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with varying learning needs and abilities
