The Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher's Aide to support the educational and transitional needs of juvenile students in Tecumseh, OK. Key Responsibilities
- Establishing a Supportive Learning Environment: Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes academic engagement, social growth, and emotional well-being.
- Communicating with Students and Teachers: Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, teachers, and other support staff to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Instructional Support: Assist teachers in delivering instructional content, administering pre-tests, grading assessments, and providing one-on-one tutoring to students.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a well-organized and respectful classroom environment, ensuring students remain on track with their curriculum even in the absence of the teacher.
- Transitional Training: Organize and facilitate online OSHA training, set up new classes, and ensure equipment is prepared for student use.
- Administrative Support: Cover school office duties as needed, assist the Principal and Assistant Principal with administrative tasks, and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
- Library Management: Catalog and maintain library books, take students to the library for check-in and check-out, and ensure the library remains organized and up-to-date.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma; some college hours preferred.
- Skills and Competencies: Excellent English reading and writing skills, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, knowledge of educational technology and teaching methods, experience in planning educational group activities, effective classroom management, and familiarity with special education support.
- Certifications and Background Checks: Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening; valid Oklahoma driver's license required at time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience working with juveniles, teaching, or in a related field.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with juvenile education, rehabilitation, and transitional programs.
