The University of Arizona's School of Government & Public Policy (SGPP), nestled within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS), is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Online Program Coordinator to support the management of student programming for undergraduate and graduate students in our UArizona Online campus. As a pivotal member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our online programs, fostering student success, and contributing to the growth and vibrancy of our academic community.

About the School of Government & Public Policy

SGPP is a dynamic and growing academic community that houses scholars of Political Science, Public Policy, and Administration and Management. We offer a range of in-person and online Bachelor's and Master's degrees, as well as an in-residence PhD program. Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Enrollment Responsibilities (30%)

  • Maintain and update the schedule of classes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Submit new courses, changes, and course deletions as needed, working closely with faculty and staff.
  • Monitor student status, class enrollments, SCH, majors, and enrollment trends, providing insights to inform program development.
  • Collaborate with the unit and business center on reports, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  • Submit proposals for new majors, minors, and certificates, supporting the expansion of our academic offerings.
  • Support curriculum committees and the Director of Undergraduate Studies and Program Directors, facilitating the development of high-quality academic programs.

Graduate Coordination Activities (50%)

  • Coordinate the graduate student admission process, including processing applications, communicating with applicants, and managing admission letters and the GradApp system.
  • Monitor student status, including course enrollment, leaves of absence, GradPath forms, and graduation requirements, providing support to students as needed.
  • Execute all administrative tasks associated with Online Graduate Programs, ensuring seamless program operations.
  • Coordinate grad student events, such as recruitment and orientation, fostering a sense of community among our online students.
  • Collaborate with Arizona Online, Career Services, and other university offices to ensure the smooth operation of online programs.
  • Maintain grad student files and handbooks, providing a valuable resource for students and staff.
  • Provide administrative graduate support for future online graduate degree programs, as they are developed.

Marketing Support & Student Outreach Responsibilities (20%)

  • Assist with the dissemination of program-wide communications with current students via department listservs, social media, SGPP websites, and online student newsletters.
  • Initiate and monitor program marketing needs, coordinating new outreach opportunities that encourage program growth.
  • Respond to queries from current and prospective students, providing program, academic, and UA policy information.
  • Contribute to SGPP student-centered events, such as student recruitment, invited speakers, professional development opportunities, and award ceremonies.
  • Assist with undergraduate student summer orientation and events for online transfer students, supporting student transition and success.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferably in higher education or a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of UArizona student policies and procedures is encouraged, although not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Qualtrics, UAccess Student, GradPath, Schedule, and Analytics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public administration, higher education, management, or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in higher education, with a focus on student programming and support.
  • Experience working with online programs and students, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in this context.
