The Specialist, API and Data Architect role is focused on defining data architecture, data APIs, and data lake strategies, growing data interface capabilities, and developing enterprise-wide solutions by providing technology leadership insight for cloud applications. You will work closely with other development staff, business product owners, and stakeholders to drive the design, planning, and execution of the data lake platform on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis and complex architectural design across platforms to develop end-to-end solutions, translating architectural guidance into detailed technical design.
  • Collaborate with development staff, including contract and offshore Data and Software Engineers, as well as business product owners in an agile environment.
  • Code, test, identify, implement, and document solutions to business challenges utilizing data and AWS cloud technologies.
  • Perform design and analysis for deliverables, leading large team design sessions and serving as a subject matter expert for the data lake ecosystem, applications, and technologies.
  • Recommend solutions considering costs, business needs, and system impacts, utilizing third-party software development frameworks, open-source libraries, and APIs.
  • Lead cloud development staff, including contract and offshore developers, and may have supervisory responsibility over employees.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in the field, rapidly grasping new technologies to support the environment and contribute to project deliverables.
  • Prepare presentations and lead design and development meetings.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, Engineering, or other technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Six years of Core Java or .NET experience.
  • Expertise in coding platforms/frameworks, such as .NET/C#, JAVA, OOD, OOP, Functional Programming, Spring Framework, J2EE Development, OOP, Service Oriented Architecture, Dependency Injection, and Core Architecture.
  • Five years of experience and expertise in database design techniques and philosophies, including RDBMS, Document, Star Schema, and Kimball Model.
  • In-depth knowledge of NoSQL database technologies, such as MS Cosmos DB, Apache Cassandra, and Amazon DynamoDB.
  • Three years of development experience with cloud services, such as AWS, utilizing various support tools, including EC2, ECS, S3, Kinesis, RDS, Redshift, Athena, Glue, EMR, Event Hubs, Step Functions, Cloud Trail, Cloud Watch, SNS, SQS, and Athena.
  • Expertise in build and deployment tools, such as Visual Studio, Git/Bitbucket, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, SQL Management Studio, Nunit, and Ajax.
  • Expertise in developing distributed computing, such as Spark.
  • Five years of experience with integration and service frameworks, such as AWS API Gateway, Apache Camel, Swagger API, Zookeeper, Kafka, and messaging tools.
  • Expertise with Microservices and REST-based API development, such as Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Entity Framework, IIS, Swagger, Odata, .NET API 2, .NET API Core, and AutoMapper.
  • Experience leveraging continuous integration/development tools, such as Jenkins, Docker, Containers, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and container automation, in a Ci/CD pipeline.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend development frameworks, such as Angular, React, Vue.js, ASP.NET MVC, HTTP, HTML, JS, CSS, and Ajax.
  • Attention to detail and results-oriented, with a strong customer focus.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Technical communication skills and the ability to present information to all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Additionally, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • A Master's degree.
  • Understanding of advanced analytics and machine learning concepts and technology implementations.
  • Experience with big data and real-time streaming analytics processing architecture.
  • Technology or platform certifications, such as AWS or Microsoft.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position generally ranges between $115,000 - $153,000 annually, depending on qualifications and operational needs.
