Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the intake of provider requests through various modes of submission, including secure fax, e-form, and telephonic requests, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Create UM requests in accordance with our clients' policies and procedures, as well as documentation guidelines, to facilitate efficient review and decision-making.
  • Provide current review status updates to requesting provider offices, receipt confirmations, and other relevant information to ensure transparency and satisfaction.
  • Educate providers on our clients' UM processes and requirements, as well as clinical information requirements, to promote understanding and compliance.
  • Support our UM nurses as needed to complete their clinical review requirements, ensuring that they have the necessary information and resources to make informed decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the UM nurses, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Participate in department meetings, training, and audit activities, equivalent to our clients' employees, to stay informed and aligned with industry best practices.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a strong background in healthcare, particularly in Utilization Management. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of recent health plan experience, with a focus on Utilization Management or a related field.
  • A high level of expertise in UM services, including knowledge of relevant regulations, guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Experience with MCG Criteria is preferred, although not required, as it demonstrates familiarity with evidence-based clinical guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with healthcare providers, UM nurses, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and make informed decisions.
