Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Adjunct Instructor - Jail Academy. As an instructor, you will be responsible for providing quality academic curriculum, instruction, assessment, and ensuring a productive and challenging learning experience for our students. Your primary focus will be on delivering face-to-face instruction at our Sparta Public Safety Training Facility, with the possibility of teaching in multiple modes of delivery, including online or hybrid/blended formats. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect, with regular attendance required.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in multiple modes of delivery, including face-to-face, online, or hybrid/blended formats, to prepare students for the workplace and/or further education.
- Develop and deliver instructional design activities, address and refer student concerns, and guide and support students on a one-to-one basis outside the classroom and in the classroom setting.
- Monitor student progress, conduct student evaluations, and provide input and/or maintain division accreditation and student records.
- Integrate the college core abilities, program outcomes, and course competencies into your instruction.
- Provide academic referrals as appropriate, organize, develop, and deliver outcomes-based curriculum, and assess student learning.
- Complete all required College training and maintain the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
Essential Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred, with a minimum of 3 years (6,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience working as a Law Enforcement Officer, jailer, or correctional officer.
- Teaching experience preferred, with completion of the State of Wisconsin- Department of Justice Instructor Development Course required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and community partners.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity, social justice, and diversity, with the ability to promote social justice within the division and the larger academic institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, with a strong background in law enforcement, corrections, or a related field.
- Experience with instructional design, curriculum development, and assessment, with a focus on outcomes-based education.
- Familiarity with the college core abilities, program outcomes, and course competencies, with the ability to integrate these into instruction.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including students from underrepresented groups, with a demonstrated commitment to student success and retention.

We offer a competitive hourly salary range of $23.69 - $33.51, depending on education and experience.
