Job Summary

We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Recording Arts to teach courses in music production, digital audio, live sound, surround sound, music synthesis, and audio for post-production. The successful candidate will have a strong background in recording arts and a proven track record of teaching and mentoring students. The position is a full-time, clinical teaching track appointment, with an 80% teaching load, and is available immediately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a 3/3 course load (18 total credit hours per academic year) in the areas of recording arts, including music production, digital audio, live sound, surround sound, music synthesis, and audio for post-production
  • Prepare course content, syllabi, lectures, presentations, and student assignments
  • Evaluate student work and track student attendance and engagement
  • Advise students and manage courses in the online platform Canvas
  • Engage in research, creative work, and service, including publications, recordings, performances, multimedia, and professional development
  • Contribute to the function and operations of the department, as defined by the department chair
  • Represent the university, department, and students in the broader community

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A Master's degree in Music Production, Recording Arts, Audio Engineering/Post-production, or a related field
  • At least three years of teaching experience at the college or professionally comparable level
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse population
  • Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner, across various modalities
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and tasks in parallel, while maintaining attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred applicants will have:

  • Experience that shows diversity, equity, and inclusivity practices, and inclusive pedagogy in teaching and/or creative work
  • Experience teaching Audio Post-Production courses
  • A record of scholarly and/or creative work, and ability to provide proof of portfolio
  • National and/or international professional/industry experience in the field of Recording Arts
  • Experience collaborating on cross-disciplinary initiatives
