Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Instructional Coach to join our team at the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired. As an Instructional Coach, you will play a vital role in providing leadership to classroom teachers to improve academic achievement and behavior of all students. Your primary focus will be on planning, implementing, and assessing intervention services to ensure fidelity, increasing the staff's capacity to effectively implement identified core universal practices through ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to classroom teachers to enhance instructional techniques and improve student outcomes
  • Develop and implement intervention services to support students with diverse needs, including those who are visually impaired
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized instruction and behavior plans
  • Provide professional development opportunities for staff on universal best practices and interventions for learning and behavior
  • Participate in school-based leadership opportunities, such as team meetings and lead teacher meetings
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff, administrators, and families

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Louisiana Teacher certification as set forth in Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel (Bulletin 746), including Deaf education endorsement
  • Instructional Coach Certification (or willingness to acquire within three years of hire date)
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience and/or professional experience, with special education experience preferred
  • Flexibility and creativity in approaches to teaching and learning
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and collaborate with staff, administrators, and families
  • Knowledge of state content standards and assessment processes

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience working with students who are visually impaired or have other disabilities
  • Knowledge of special education rules and regulations associated with implementation of state and federal laws
  • Experience with program management and leadership
