Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, planning, coordination, and assessment of the Learning Assistant program, designed to support student transition and retention.
- Collaborate with campus entities to promote learning assistants and academic success, and develop cohesive learning assistant services by utilizing technology and strengthening connections/relationships between Peer Connections and campus partners.
- Support the Program Director in overseeing the scheduling, administrative tasks, and mentorship for the Learning Assistant Team.
- Develop and implement learning assistant training that meets International Standards of the College, Reading, and Learning Association (CRLA) and Learning Assistants Alliance recommendations.
- Support, guide, and develop student employees in their social, leadership, academic, and identity development, and advocate for their holistic well-being.
- Monitor and manage student employee work hours to ensure they are not exceeding allowable work hours in a week.
- Assist in the development of culturally appropriate and accessible marketing and publicity materials.
- Write, edit, and manage learning assistant content on center website and social media platforms.
Essential Qualifications
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
- Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
- Ability to communicate with constituents in a professional and respectful manner.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of organizational procedures and activities of the department.
- Ability to create and facilitate student development and study skill programming.
- Ability to develop and deliver appropriate learning support strategies.
- Knowledge of English grammar, business writing, punctuation, and spelling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience with learning assistants on a college campus.
- Experience working with a diverse student population.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of university methods, procedures, and practices.
- General knowledge of individual counseling techniques.
