The Impact You'll Make as a Manufacturing Supervisor - 3rd Shift

As a Manufacturing Supervisor - 3rd Shift, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our production team and the overall success of our organization. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting a safe and sustainable working environment through modeling safe behaviors and recognizing and resolving safety-related problems
  • Leading incident investigations and WIMs reports, including presenting incident resolutions to site leadership
  • Cultivating and leading a team by encouraging and implementing cross-training activities, cooperation, innovation, flexibility, and teamwork
  • Scheduling work priorities consistent with engineering directives, coordinating maintenance activities, allocating work assignments, communicating expectations, and monitoring workflow
  • Providing coaching and feedback to employees and utilizing corrective action to resolve conflict and inappropriate behaviors
  • Monitoring production rates, yields, and quality of products routinely, communicating results to employees, and leveraging continuous improvement tools to improve scheduling, quality, and efficiency
  • Leading, coaching, and developing employees through direct supervision, floor presence, monitoring, and coaching of production employees, providing recognition, overseeing training completion, policy administration, and participating in hiring processes
  • Implementing advanced working knowledge and interpretation of corporate and site policies and procedures
  • Ensuring shift administrative activities such as time reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime, etc. are properly implemented and documented
  • Representing plant leadership team through supporting initiatives across the plant, including but not limited to supervision coverage for alternative shifts, being on-call, and supporting 24/7 production through flexible work schedules when required

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role, 3M requires the following qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Two (2) years of manufacturing and/or production experience in a private, public, government, or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
  • Minimum of three (3) years previous supervisor/management experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
  • Experience coaching/mentoring less experienced supervisors
  • Experience leading daily tier management process, continuous improvement processes, and leading improvement projects (kaizens)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence changes with operators, other plant employees, and management team members
