As a Medical Assistant or LPN, you'll play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care, working collaboratively with our healthcare team to meet the unique needs of each patient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Examination and Treatment Areas: Ensure that examination and treatment areas are properly prepared per clinic standards.
  • Patient Rooming Procedures: Complete patient rooming procedures, including vital signs, data collection, and other identified components specific to the clinic setting.
  • Medication Administration and Documentation: Accurately administer and document unit dose medications/immunizations in accordance with clinic policy.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform EKG's and laboratory testing per CLIA license of the clinic.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Ensure that documentation in the patient record is accurate, clear, and concise.
  • Clerical Activities and Supply Maintenance: Complete all assigned clerical activities and supply maintenance/ordering as directed.
  • Scheduling and Patient Education: Assist with scheduling follow-up care/appointments and distribute pre-printed/pre-approved patient education materials.
  • Scope of Responsibilities: Function within the documented Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities.
  • Additional Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies; Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant University or accredited training facility.
  • Certification: Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) by one of the listed certifying bodies; Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire.
  • Certification Requirements for Medical Assistants: Any Medical Assistant hired between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2024, may be granted 6 months to obtain national certification. Any Medical Assistant hired after July 1, 2024, must hold one of the following national certifications upon hire:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
    • American Medical Technologists (AMT)
    • National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
    • American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing.
  • Certification: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
  • Experience: 1+ years of Clinical Experience; 1+ years of Healthcare Experience.
