As a Behavior Technician, you'll play a vital role in providing high-quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with autism, helping them develop essential life skills and achieve meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings, utilizing intensive teaching and natural environment training methods.
  • Implement behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as outlined in client individualized treatment plans, under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Assist with parent and caregiver training, supporting them in implementing strategies to promote client progress.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding client progress, as instructed by the BCBA.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment, adhering to established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Assist the BCBA in preparing client materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skills acquisition programs.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge

To excel as a Center-Based Behavior Technician, you'll need:

  • Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or willingness to complete a 40-hour training course and sit for the RBT competency exam within 45 days of employment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Reliable transportation, with proof of driver's license and valid car insurance (if applicable).
  • Ability to physically perform the demands of the job, including getting down on the floor, standing up, lifting up to 50lbs, and running/moving quickly when necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Cultural competency, flexibility, and open-mindedness.
  • Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, as well as a TB test (if not completed within the past year).

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following experiences and skills can enhance your application:

  • Previous experience as a Behavioral Technician or in a related field (e.g., Teacher's Aid, Tutor, CNA, Caregiver, or Home Health Aide).
  • Experience working with children with autism or other learning disabilities.
