About the Position
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Federal government of the United States as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (Leader Level) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. Key Responsibilities
- Provides care, supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Assists in preparing age-appropriate activities, supervising children and youth during indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events.
- Executes work in accordance with policies and regulations, maintaining a high level of professionalism and adherence to guidelines.
- Serves as a team leader for program staff, overseeing the operation and program in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth.
- Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements, ensuring inclusivity and diversity.
- Works with trainer and supervisor to implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children and youth.
- Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques, promoting positive interactions and relationships.
- Participates in conferences with parents, program staff, and other representatives, maintaining open lines of communication and collaboration.
- Ensures compliance with policies and regulations applicable to AF Child and Youth Programs, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must speak, read, and write English.
- Must meet specific physical requirements, including the ability to lift 40 lbs or more and stand for long periods.
- Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and satisfactorily complete installation, state, and national criminal background checks.
- Must possess maturity and good judgment, with a passion for working with children/youth and their parents.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- One year of experience at the CY03 level (Target Level) or equivalent.
- Completion of an Associate of Arts degree in early childhood education, youth development, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a child and youth program, with a proven track record of success.
