Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60, located in Lake County, Illinois, is seeking a highly qualified and passionate Bilingual Math Teacher to join our team as a Dual Language Classroom Teacher. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a personalized Dual Language instructional program in Math that caters to the diverse abilities, needs, and learning characteristics of each student, aligning with the District's prescribed Dual Language model.
- Utilize District-approved curriculum, instructional methods, and materials to ensure that teaching practices are consistent with the Dual Language program's objectives.
- Create a child-centered learning environment that applies sound principles of mental health and educational psychology, ensuring a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Participate in District-level training sessions to enhance your teaching skills and stay updated on best practices for Dual Language instruction.
- Employ a variety of creative instructional methods and bilingual/ESL materials to engage students and promote academic achievement.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, including lesson plans, attendance, and communication with parents or guardians.
- Collaborate with school administrators, the Director of English Language Learner Programs, and other staff members to ensure that your teaching practices are aligned with District policies and goals.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the community to create a collaborative learning environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A valid Illinois Professional Educators License.
- ESL certification or a willingness to obtain it.
- Teaching experience at the relevant grade level or in a Dual Language classroom within the last five years (including student teaching and internships).
- Proficiency in both English and the native language of your students (Spanish preferred).
- Middle School endorsement, Bilingual (Spanish) or TBE License, and Math endorsements.
