The City of Raleigh is seeking a highly motivated and community-focused Recreation Programs Analyst Green Road - Assistant Director to join our team at the Green Road Community Center. As an integral part of our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, you will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative recreation programs and services that cater to the diverse needs of our community.

About the Green Road Community Center and Park

Located in north Raleigh, the Green Road Community Center and Park is a vibrant hub of community activity. The center, built in 1985 on 29 acres of land, features two full gymnasiums, meeting rooms, a dance studio, kitchenette, and fitness room. The adjacent park boasts baseball fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, an outdoor basketball court, picnic shelter, playground, and outdoor restrooms. Our team manages a range of programs and services, including after-school programs, summer camps, special events, and recreation and educational programs for all ages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative duties, including management of general and revolving funds, tracking and reporting expenses, and analyzing facility spending needs.
  • Coordinate facility rentals and offsite amenities, process rental inquiries, handle refunds, and manage deposits.
  • Develop and implement new and existing facility programs and special events, evaluating program needs through community engagement, marketing, and surveys.
  • Oversee current programming, including curriculum review, scheduling, class observation, and instructor evaluation.
  • Manage patron concerns and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist with the administration of athletic leagues, including marketing, registration, and form processing.
  • Recruit and hire qualified part-time staff, conduct training, and manage staff scheduling and payroll.
  • Supervise part-time staff and volunteers, conducting performance evaluations and addressing disciplinary issues.
  • Represent the department through engagement at public meetings and community groups/events.
  • Assist with facility and park management/maintenance, including regular inspections and submission of service requests.
  • Manage facility upgrades and coordinate volunteer projects.
  • Be accessible for after-hours needs, including staff support, response to facility alarms, and emergency situations.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or a directly related field, and up to one year of related experience.
  • A valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of program administration and management, critical thinking and analysis, and project management.
  • Skill in community engagement, outreach to marginalized and underserved populations, and building effective working relationships.
  • Ability to manage a project or program, gather and analyze data, and apply logic and reason.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to utilize judgment in determining and adapting techniques and strategies to deescalate a variety of situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED/EPI certification.
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional designation.
