About the Role
The Science and Mathematics Education program at Oklahoma State University is accepting applications for a one-year Teaching Assistant Professor position in Science Education, commencing August 2024. This role is integral to the university's mission to prepare students to be leaders in formal and informal education settings, with a focus on science education.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate elementary and secondary science education courses, as well as graduate K-12 science education courses, both on-campus and online.
- Participating in committee service to the program, department, college, university, and community, promoting collaboration and collegiality.
- Engaging in research and grant writing activities, leveraging the Center for Research on STEM Teaching and Learning (CRSTL) as a platform for research opportunities.
- Building positive relationships with the K-12 school community and actively participating in state, regional, national, and international science education research organizations.
- Embracing the university's land grant mission and making a positive impact on the community through service, extension, and outreach efforts.
Essential Qualifications
- An earned Ed.D. or Ph.D. with an emphasis in Science Education or a related area by the start date for the position.
- Evidence of or potential for effective undergraduate and graduate instruction in a broad range of science education topics.
- Demonstrated collegiality and collaboration at both the higher education levels and with public school communities.
- Commitment to educational and social equity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of successful full-time K-12 classroom teaching experience in U.S. public schools.
- Experience teaching in a grades 6-12 classroom.
- Experience teaching and working with elementary and/or secondary preservice teachers.
- Strong technology integration skills.
- Experience in teaching and learning in online learning environments.
