Role Overview

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, unpacking and routing specimens to their respective staging areas, accurately identifying and labeling specimens, and packing and shipping specimens to proper testing facilities. You will also be responsible for meeting department activity and production goals, properly preparing and storing excess specimen samples, and performing data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, including aliquoting and pour-offs
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas, ensuring that all specimens are handled and stored properly
• Accurately identify and label specimens, using your attention to detail to ensure that all specimens are correctly labeled and tracked
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities, ensuring that all specimens are handled and transported safely and efficiently
• Meet department activity and production goals, working efficiently and effectively to ensure that all tasks are completed on time
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples, ensuring that all specimens are handled and stored properly
• Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner, using your strong data entry and organizational skills to ensure that all information is accurate and up-to-date
• Resolve and document any problem specimens, using your problem-solving skills to identify and resolve any issues that may arise

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a high school diploma or equivalent, and no relative experience is required, although 1-2 years of experience is preferred. You should also have previous medical or production experience, be comfortable handling biological specimens, and have the ability to accurately identify specimens. Additionally, you should have experience working in a team environment, strong data entry and organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and be proficient in MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, it would be desirable if you have experience working in a laboratory environment, have knowledge of specimen processing and accessioning, and have experience with data entry and organizational software. You should also be able to lift up to 30lbs and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
