Part-Time Virtual School Social Worker in Michigan
Job Title: Remote School Social Worker
Location: Remote (Must be licensed in Michigan)
Employment Type: Part-Time 1099 Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Remote School Social Worker to provide virtual social-emotional and mental health support services to K–12 students across Michigan. The ideal candidate will have experience working in school settings, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of how to support students' emotional and academic success in a virtual learning environment. Candidates must hold a valid Michigan School Social Worker license.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide virtual individual and group counseling services to students as outlined in IEPs or behavioral intervention plans.
• Conduct virtual assessments and evaluations for special education eligibility and re-evaluations.
• Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to develop and implement intervention strategies.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of social-emotional goals.
• Monitor student progress and maintain clear, compliant documentation.
• Support crisis intervention efforts and referrals to community resources, as needed.
• Help promote a positive school climate and address barriers to student learning.
Required Qualifications:
• Licensure:
• Valid School Social Worker License (310 Certification) issued by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).
• Education:
• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program.
• Residency: Must reside in the U.S. and be authorized to work remotely in Michigan.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working in K–12 school settings.
• Experience with special education services, IEPs, and behavioral supports preferred.
• Prior teletherapy or remote work experience is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse student populations.
• Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and behavioral interventions.
• Ability to work independently in a virtual environment while collaborating with school teams.
• Proficiency in using virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) and electronic documentation systems.
Technology Requirements:
• Reliable high-speed internet and private, secure workspace.
• Computer with webcam and microphone.
• Familiarity with digital communication and record-keeping platforms.
Work Environment & Schedule:
• 100% remote position supporting students in Michigan school districts.
