Job Summary The Junior Graphic Design Intern will support the creative team by designing and producing high-quality materials for both print and digital platforms. Responsibilities include developing visual content such as social media graphics, web content, flyers, advertisements, and branded assets like logos and icons. The intern will apply brand guidelines consistently across all projects and ensure all deliverables are completed on time and meet quality standards. This role requires experience in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and/or Illustrator, and a strong attention to detail. Experience creating graphics for social media and familiarity with platforms like MailChimp, Wix, or Squarespace is preferred. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and reports directly to a supervisor within the creative team. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed. This is a volunteer, part-time internship requiring a 6-month commitment. Interns are expected to work approximately 15 hours per week and can work remotely from anywhere in the United States. Duties & Responsibilities • Design and produce engaging visual content for print and digital media, including flyers, web graphics, advertisements, and social media assets. • Assist in the creation and refinement of branded materials such as logos, icons, templates, and promotional graphics. • Develop creative concepts that align with project goals and brand guidelines. • Interpret and accurately apply brand standards across all design projects to ensure consistency and professionalism. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail. Edit and revise designs based on team feedback and client/stakeholder input. Requirements Knowledge, Skills, Abilities • Understanding of design principles, including layout, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy. • Familiarity with branding and the application of brand guidelines across various media. • Knowledge of file preparation for both digital and print formats. • Strong visual design skills with an eye for detail, composition, and creativity. • Ability to create graphics optimized for social media platforms. • Time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. • File organization skills and familiarity with managing digital assets. • Ability to adapt design style to suit different brands and target audiences. • Ability to follow creative direction and incorporate feedback effectively. • Ability to learn and use new design tools or platforms as needed. Education • Must have completed 32 - 60 college credit hours in Graphic Design, Communication Design, or a related field. (Required) • 90 completed college credit hours in Graphic Design, Communication Design, or related field (Preferred) • College degree completed no more than 3 years from the application date Experience • 1 year - Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and/or Illustrator (Required) • 1 year - Experience creating graphics for social media platforms (Preferred) • 1 year - Familiarity with MailChimp, Wix, or Squarespace (Preferred) Application Materials • Resume (Required) • Portfolio (Required) • Unofficial College Transcripts (Required) SLMG CO-OP is based in Ohio; thus, all staff work on Eastern Standard Time.
