Job Overview
We're looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to provide operational support to our Prescription department. As a Pharmacy Technician with our team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth processing of prescriptions, interacting with patients and healthcare professionals, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assigned duties as directed by the Prescription Specialist Supervisor, ensuring timely and accurate processing of prescriptions.
- Interact effectively and professionally with all location departments, patients, prescribers, payors, and pharmacies related to prescription requests.
- Develop proficiencies in utilizing Epic Works independently, handling multiple tasks, and managing workflows efficiently.
- Greet patients over the telephone, ensuring prompt service and addressing their needs in a compassionate and professional manner.
- Perform computer entry of prescription information, including patient search, prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation, and chart review.
- Accurately review and process e-prescriptions, faxed prescriptions, my-chart renewals, and patient calls according to Prescription Department guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding any issues that may delay their prescriptions and work with the Prescription Specialist Supervisor to resolve these issues promptly.
- Assist with maintaining the prescription pool, managing open encounters, and in-basket management to ensure seamless operations.
- Follow all asset protection and personal safety guidelines as outlined in the department's Policy and Procedures.
- Obtain correct Prior Authorizations forms and complete the prior authorization process for medications not covered by patient insurance.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or higher.
- Current unencumbered Pharmacy Technician license in the State of Massachusetts.
- 1+ year of retail Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced pharmacy environment with a high volume of prescriptions.
- Proficiency in Epic Works or similar pharmacy management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
