Job Summary

As a Customer Contact Center Representative - Student Loan Advisor, you'll play a critical role in supporting students with their loan inquiries, providing detailed information, and resolving emerging problems with accuracy and efficiency. You'll work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, utilizing standard technology such as telephone, email, and web browser to deliver exceptional customer experiences. This is an in-center position with the possibility to work from home after 90 days, provided you meet attendance, performance, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take incoming calls, use chat, and complete outbound calls as necessary to assist customers with answering frequent questions, providing detailed information, and resolving emerging problems.
  • Practice active listening, be empathic, and communicate clearly with customers in a positive and professional manner.
  • Utilize standard technology such as telephone, email, and web browser to navigate to pre-scripted responses and provide basic general and claims-specific information.
  • Follow established and documented policies and standard operating procedures, such as working within various systems, timekeeping, documentation of calls, and adhering to ethics and privacy rules.
  • Assist callers with filling out applications and submitting them electronically to plan providers for processing.
  • Complete basic call logs, documentation, and related call details for each phone inquiry.

Schedule

We're looking for candidates who can work a set schedule, Monday through Friday:

  • Monday: 11:45am-8:15pm
  • Tuesday: 10:45am-7:15pm
  • Wednesday: 10:45am-7:15pm
  • Thursday: 8:45am-5:15pm
  • Friday: 8:45am-5:15pm

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM.
  • Experience working with a personal computer and the Windows operating system.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiencies in Excel and Word.
  • Excellent command of the English language and effective use of grammar skills.
  • Great customer service skills, with the ability to personalize calls, be competent with information and assistance, patient and polite, and initiative-taking in offering solutions and assistance.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized while completing simultaneous tasks.
  • Experience working in a contact center environment.
  • Knowledge of contact center technology.
