We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Intake/Data Entry Specialist to join our Utilization Review Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in gathering crucial intake information, establishing electronic patient files, and assisting with the organization and dissemination of certification correspondence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to Inquiries and Manage Communication: Answer calls on the Utilization Review line, directing inquiries to the appropriate team members and retrieving voicemail messages for the nursing staff.
  • Patient File Management: Collect and document demographic information to create and maintain accurate patient files, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Correspondence and Administrative Tasks: Print, mail, fax, and copy correspondence as required, and undertake additional tasks as assigned to support the team.
  • Data Entry and Record-Keeping: Perform accurate and efficient data entry within databases, maintaining up-to-date patient records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with the Utilization Review team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.

Essential Qualifications

Education:

A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Preference will be given to candidates with coursework in computers, medical terminology, data entry, word processing, and secretarial training.

Experience:

A minimum of one year of professional office experience is required, with preference for candidates who have worked in a healthcare setting. Experience in medical intake, data entry, or a related field is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Computer Systems and Data Entry: Proficiency in computer systems and data entry within databases is essential.
  • Word Processing and Multi-Line Telephone Systems: Familiarity with word processing and multi-line telephone systems is advantageous.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess a courteous and helpful telephone demeanor, strong proofreading capabilities, and excellent data entry skills.
  • Organizational and Time Management: The ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively is crucial, along with a solid understanding of customer service.
  • Bilingual Candidates: Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, although it is not a requirement.

  • Full-Time Schedule: Enjoy a balanced work-life with a Monday to Friday schedule (9:30 AM - 6:00 PM) without the need for weekend or night shifts.
