Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries from members and healthcare providers within defined service standards, providing timely and accurate support.
  • Negotiate with healthcare providers to gain acceptance for plans without network agreements and/or out-of-network providers, ensuring seamless care coordination.
  • Assist members with benefits and healthcare questions, providing clear and concise information to support informed decision-making.
  • Document all calls received in a system-based call log, maintaining accurate records and ensuring efficient issue resolution.
  • Build relationships with internal and external customers, including healthcare providers and plan members, to foster trust and loyalty.
  • Utilize strong analytical and research skills to resolve complex issues and provide effective solutions.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required; 2 years of college or higher education preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of customer service or call center experience in a healthcare-related role; medical intake or third-party administrator (TPA) experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent customer relations and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle difficult situations tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Strong appreciation and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications and strong computer skills, including data entry and typing.
  • Knowledge of provider organizations and networks, as well as CMS Medicare reimbursement rates.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate rate structures and take initiative to resolve situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to multi-task and anticipate potential needs/problems.
  • Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of self-funded health benefits a plus.
  • Claim processing skills, insurance verification, or pre-certification experience a plus.
