Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone calls, determine the nature of the call, and direct callers to the appropriate individual or department in a timely and professional manner.
  • Take accurate messages when personnel are unavailable and ensure that messages are delivered promptly and efficiently.
  • Operate the paging/telephone system as required, and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
  • Greet and direct visitors to the appropriate personnel, and provide them with any necessary information or support.
  • Provide administrative support as assigned, including preparing documents, maintaining records, and performing other related tasks.
  • Participate in scheduled training, educational classes, and orientation programs to maintain licensure and certification, and to enhance the quality of care and services we provide.
  • Maintain and work within established departmental, center, and home office policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous receptionist experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with people at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in operating a computer and other office equipment, including telephone and paging systems.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Prior experience working in a healthcare setting, with knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and other healthcare software applications.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate with patients and families who speak different languages.
  • Certification as a medical receptionist or administrative assistant, or a related field.
