About the Role
As a Remote Patient Access Representative I, you'll play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient access and registration processes. Your expertise will be crucial in providing excellent customer service, verifying insurance eligibility, and managing patient data with accuracy and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients upon arrival, enter them into the patient tracking system, and distribute patient information according to hospital policy and compliance regulations.
- Verify patient insurance and eligibility/benefits, obtain insurance referrals, and maintain knowledge of insurance requirements.
- Understand the basics of coding diagnoses and procedures for insurance authorizations and Medicare compliance.
- Collect self-pay deposits, co-payments, and deductibles from patients, and post payments into the hospital system.
- Assist patients with financial assistance and refer them to financial counseling as needed.
- Explain and obtain legal signatures on consents for treatment, level of care/status change, and payments.
- Coordinate with the Clinical Team to ensure patient safety and efficient service delivery.
- Manage time effectively to meet departmental productivity standards and maintain high attention to detail.
- Participate in department or individual performance improvement initiatives and complete assigned educational and skills development activities.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in patient access functions within a hospital or clinic environment.
- HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification required within one (1) year of hire.
- Medical terminology and knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize needs.
- Customer service experience and strong clerical and computer skills.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:
- Experience in a complex, multi-site environment.
- Knowledge and experience of insurance verification, with the ability to explain benefits and secure necessary authorizations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
