About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Early Childhood Care Provider to join our team in Oldsmar, FL. As a Teacher I, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing educational activities for pre-school aged children or infants/toddlers in our Head Start/Early Heart Start Program. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans that provide educational and enrichment activities for pre-school age children or infants and toddlers, ensuring alignment with the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Standards.
  • Plan and arrange classrooms into distinctive learning areas that promote an effective learning environment, fostering a culture of curiosity and exploration.
  • Screen and assess children to determine developmental/educational needs, developing and implementing individual education plans that cater to their unique requirements.
  • Monitor meal and snack periods, classroom and restroom activities, and playground activities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for young children.
  • Document children's progress, completing all required manual and computerized forms and reports, and initiating referrals to the Center Director as needed.
  • Communicate with parents through parent conferences, written correspondence, and telephone, keeping them informed about their child's progress, upcoming events, and classroom activities.
  • Conduct health checks on children, reporting any health concerns to the appropriate Health Coordinator, and ensuring the implementation of safety procedures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child, including weekly observations, examples of their work, and developmental assessments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field trips for assigned children, ensuring a fun and educational experience that enhances their learning and development.

Essential Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in child development and education.
  • Two years of experience teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten age children, with a proven track record of success in creating engaging and effective learning environments.
  • Working knowledge of brain development, child development, and culture and practices for early childhood, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and meaningful way.
  • Working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, behavior modification theories, and current educational techniques and practices relating to early childhood development.
  • Skill in the application of supervisory techniques, with the ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
  • Skill in verbal communication with infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children, with the ability to resolve conflicts and provide emotional support when needed.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and conduct early childhood education programs, with a focus on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, or English and another language present in the local area, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse families and communities.
  • Experience working with children with special needs, with a strong understanding of how to create inclusive and supportive learning environments that cater to their unique requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Head Start/Early Head Start program, with a deep understanding of the program's goals, objectives, and performance standards.
