Job Summary

The Education Deputy Advisor will serve as the principal assistant to the Assistant Superintendent, providing strategic leadership and support for the development and implementation of educational programs and initiatives. This role will require a deep understanding of teaching and learning, as well as the ability to analyze complex data, develop innovative solutions, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent in directing the work activities of all state educational authority (SEA) and local educational authority (LEA) educational programs within the Office of Teaching and Learning
  • Provide high-level policy, research, and design recommendations to support the development and implementation of educational programs and initiatives
  • Review and make recommendations for departmental budget revisions, including personnel services, equipment, materials, and capital outlay
  • Coordinate the alignment of program initiatives and funding through grant application processes, such as Super App
  • Conduct research and special projects, and assure implementation of programs developed and initiated by the office
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • A baccalaureate degree plus six years of professional level experience in teaching or education; or in a public or private sector setting
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultures and economic backgrounds
  • Possess the skills necessary to manage people and programs, with the ability to be flexible and perform multiple tasks successfully

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:

  • A master's degree in education or a related field, with a focus on teaching, learning, and leadership
  • Experience in educational leadership, with a proven track record of driving educational excellence and improving student outcomes
  • Knowledge of educational policy and research, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop innovative solutions
  • Experience working with grant application processes, such as Super App
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
