Job Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant Instructor will be responsible for teaching classes, preparing lesson plans, and assessing student performance in a variety of educational settings, including classrooms, labs, clinical, and online environments. As a professional and academic role model, you will be expected to maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, provide regular feedback to students, and uphold the core values of respect, integrity, teamwork, customer service, and achievement. Key Responsibilities

  • Instruct classes as assigned, utilizing instructional plans and approved student material to ensure effective learning outcomes
  • Prepare for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student material, preparing lesson plans, and supplementing approved student material as required
  • Objectively assess students for academic performance, providing regular and constructive feedback through approved channels
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting the example and being the role model for professionalism and conduct
  • Proactively inform the Program Director of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns for retention management
  • Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy and compliance with published policies
  • Facilitate tutoring and makeup work as needed, ensuring and monitoring student participation and referring students to the Program Director and/or Academic Dean as necessary

Essential Qualifications

  • Must be licensed or regulated in any United States jurisdiction as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
  • Must have a minimum of an associate degree in a related field
  • Must have a minimum of four years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy
  • Must demonstrate contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and student evaluation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, or coaching in a healthcare or educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a fast-paced educational environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles, practices, and techniques
  • Ability to design and deliver effective instructional materials and presentations
  • Strong assessment and evaluation skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback to students
