Job Summary

As a Sausage Professor - In-Store Experience Expert, you will be responsible for creating an engaging and fun environment for our guests in the SausageWorks department. You will be the expert on all things sausage and will interact with guests, provide samples, and drive sales through suggestive selling. Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Sausage Professor, providing an engaging and fun experience for guests in the SausageWorks department
• Interact with guests in a friendly and approachable manner, creating an environment that is welcoming and inclusive
• Ensure that all sausage staff provide exceptional guest service, including actively engaging guests through freshly prepared SausageWorks samples and suggestive selling
• Demonstrate superior guest service at all times, responding to guest inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner
• Perform activities outlined in the Sausage Professor character performance description, including maintaining character and staying in role
• Drive sales, shrink, and profit goals for the SausageWorks department, including maintaining desired levels of inventory and supplies
• Operate the department according to strict merchandising and operational standards, ensuring that the quality of product for sale meets Lowes Foods standards
• Maintain sanitation and safety throughout the department, adhering to Lowes Foods standards and procedures
• Provide guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to SausageWorks staff to ensure satisfactory performance standards
• Perform product preparation, receiving, ordering, stocking, and guest service as necessary to achieve standards
• Maintain department labor budget and scheduling standards, including performing PA announcements and other duties as assigned by management

Essential Qualifications

• Friendly, energetic, and outgoing personality with a passion for creating engaging experiences
• Ability to actively engage guests and be willing to have fun with our guests
• Willingness to perform in front of large crowds and draw attention to the SausageWorks department
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and stay organized
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. consistently and 50 lbs. occasionally, with frequent standing, bending, and kneeling
• Knowledge of deli and SausageWorks operations, with the ability to supervise people, including training and development
• Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills, with the ability to work well with computers
• Must be at least 18 years old, with a high school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment, preferably in a grocery store or food service setting
• Knowledge of sausage products and preparation methods, with a passion for sausages and a desire to share that passion with guests
• Experience with inventory management, scheduling, and labor budgeting
• Certification in food safety or customer service, with a commitment to ongoing learning and development
