Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Analyst, Actuarial to lead the process of setting large claim accruals and reserve estimates for our monthly financial close. The successful candidate will have a strong background in actuarial science, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment. This is a key role that requires a high level of technical expertise, business acumen, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the process of setting large claim accruals for each monthly financial close, establishing the monthly accrual schedule and deliverables
 - Coordinate efforts of teammates and communicate with business partners in Claim Ops, Finance, and MEU to incorporate feedback into case reserves
 - Leverage Excel VBA and SQL to summarize initial and final reserve estimates used to assess financial performance
 - Analyze data to derive answers to questions about case reserve estimates and communicate results and proposed changes to actuarial leadership
 - Design and execute periodic studies to improve default estimates for case reserves and provider discounts to apply to billed large claims
 
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
 - Passed a minimum of two actuarial exams and currently progressing toward attaining the ASA designation
 - 2+ years of experience in a professional environment, preferably in an actuarial or related field
 - Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to meet tight deadlines for the monthly financial close
 - Foundational technical, analytical, and communication skills
 - Strong verbal and written communication skills
 - SQL and VBA coding skills, along with model building experience
 - Demonstrated ability to manage and improve processes
