The Role: Revolutionizing Customer Service through Data-Driven Insights

As a Data Engineer (L5) in the Customer Service domain at blithequark, you will be an integral part of the Data Science and Engineering (DSE) team. Your mission will be to harness the power of data to measure, optimize, and personalize Customer Service investments, ultimately enhancing the overall member experience. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, software engineers, and Customer Service business owners to design and implement robust, scalable data pipelines, transform raw data into actionable business metrics, and develop custom visualization tools that provide valuable insights.

Key Responsibilities: Crafting Data-Driven Solutions

  • Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data pipelines using big data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink, ensuring seamless data processing and analysis.
  • Transform raw data into core business metrics, providing actionable insights that inform Customer Service strategies and improve the member experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop custom visualization tools that surface Customer Service insights, driving data-driven decision-making.
  • Exercise strong technical judgment and autonomy, spanning across the data stack to drive projects from conception to delivery.
  • Develop and maintain data models that are adaptable to changes in source data or business processes, ensuring data integrity and flexibility.
  • Write clean, supportable code in Python or Scala, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
  • Advocate for data quality, leveraging advanced SQL skills to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Analyze business problems, such as metrics development, and prioritize tasks autonomously, demonstrating analytical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Foster productive partnerships with analysts, engineers, and business leaders through effective communication and collaboration.

Essential Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records).
  • Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design structures that are adaptable to changes in source data or business processes.
  • Proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code.
  • Advanced SQL skills, with a strong advocacy for data quality.
  • Analytical aptitude to think through business problems and prioritize tasks autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to form productive partnerships with analysts, engineers, and business leaders.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

  • A competitive annual salary, with a range of $170,000 - $720,000 for this role.
