As a key member of our Access Center, you will be the initial point of contact for patients, healthcare facilities, physicians, and clinical staff, ensuring seamless coordination of patient care.

Role Purpose and Responsibilities

The Customer Service Representative (Access Center) plays a vital role in answering a high volume of inbound calls for assigned blithequark practices. As a liaison between patients, healthcare facilities, physicians, and clinical staff, you will facilitate patient healthcare needs while maintaining accurate data entry in the electronic health record and upholding patient privacy and security as per HIPAA guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Navigating the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capture and document demographic and financial information, and maintain accurate data entry.
  • Managing a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and providing excellent customer service.
  • Leveraging critical thinking to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity, researching complex issues, and consulting/escalating to clinical staff when necessary.
  • Scheduling patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verifying and updating insurance, and checking insurance eligibility.
  • Maintaining proficiency in insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions, and documenting and sending messages to providers and clinical staff in the electronic health record.
  • Achieving targeted performance and customer service standards, including abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-5 years of experience in customer service or a related field.
  • The ability to type at a minimum speed of 35 wpm with 90% accuracy (typing test required).
  • Residence within 1 hour of St. Louis, Missouri.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Recent healthcare or customer service experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with high volumes of calls.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and customer service software.
