Remote RN Medical Assistance Coordinator – Travel Insurance
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Assistance team supporting insured travelers during urgent medical situations. This fully remote role is focused on coordinating emergency medical logistics and services—not direct patient care or telehealth. The RN Medical Assistance Coordinator acts as a critical liaison between patients, families, healthcare providers, third-party administrators, air ambulance services, and travel vendors, ensuring timely and appropriate support during medical emergencies abroad.
Schedule:
• Saturday & Sunday: 5:30 PM – 6:00 AM
• Monday: 9:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Includes three 15-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute lunch per shift
Training:
• Four (4) weeks of paid training and shadowing (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
On-Call Duties:
• Every third week, third weekend, and rotating holidays
Compensation:
• $28.00/hr-$30.00/hr (depending on Experience)
Work Environment:
• 100% Remote – No in-office work required
• Equipment provided: Monitor, keyboard, headset, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the first point of contact for incoming calls from travelers in medical distress, family members, and providers.
• Coordinate medical evacuations, repatriations, and urgent transport needs in collaboration with air ambulances, medical escorts, and hospitals worldwide.
• Perform medical case reviews and internal assessments, including pre-certification reviews and approvals.
• Interface with global medical providers and facilities to validate treatment plans, manage discharge planning, and ensure continuity of care.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with family members and travel companions to provide updates and support.
• Maintain accurate documentation in case management systems and ensure timely reporting.
• Ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs), including rapid call and email response times and prompt case resolution.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for urgent medical or transportation needs.
• Work independently while staying accountable to the Assist & Medical Management Manager through activity reports and SLA metrics.
Required Qualifications:
• Active, unrestricted RN license (no state exclusions).
• Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, ideally including emergency care, critical care, or case management.
• Expertise in:
• Medical terminology and disease processes
• Remote coordination of medical treatment
• Case management for medical transportation and discharge planning
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Proficiency in managing inbound and outbound calls in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting with high accountability.
• Must have a quiet, private work environment for managing sensitive calls and patient information.
Accountability & Performance Monitoring:
• Reports directly to the Assist & Medical Management Manager
• Performance monitored via:
• Average Speed to Answer (ASA) – Target: <2 minutes
• Email response time – Target: <1 hour
• Medical reviews/pre-certifications – Completed within 24 hours
