Job Summary We're seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our team of dispatchers and ensure the smooth operation of our flights. As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and leading a team of dispatchers, coordinating with various stakeholders, and providing exceptional customer service. This is a full-time position that requires a strong and diverse skillset in relevant areas to drive success. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage a team of dispatchers during scheduled and non-scheduled activities • Ensure related support activities are completed in accordance with American Airlines' operating procedures and policies • Screen potential impact of weather, aircraft mechanical issues, aviation authority requirements, fuel supplies, security issues, labor issues, or other sources of disruption to overall aircraft operations • Establish the airline's strategy and objectives in advance of irregular operations and ensure activities are performed in accordance with the operating plan • Guarantee AA stays in compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g., OSHA, TSA, FAA, and Department of Transportation, through the development and implementation of procedures • Advocate for passenger preferences to meet Spot 259 Enhanced Insurances for Aircraft Travelers guidelines • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement; provide suggestions and implement initiatives to reduce cost, gain efficiencies, and improve customer service and employee experience • Demonstrate and develop collaborative relationships across all workgroups and teams • Establish and maintain open communication and a cooperative relationship with all levels of organizational leadership Requirements Essential Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • 3+ years of management experience leading large teams in Specialized Activities, Coordinated Operations Control, Airport Operations, or Cargo, including unionized frontline workgroups • Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing is required Preferred Qualifications: • Government Flight Organization (FAA) Airplane Dispatcher Certificate preferred • In-depth knowledge of the airline industry and specialized operations, American Airlines (AA) business strategy, company policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements • Strong technical knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, as well as FAA policies, practices, and procedures Skills and Competencies • Ability to influence others through exceptional interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills • Ability to be an action-oriented and results-driven leader, with a natural ability for engaging employees across different workgroups • Ability to think strategically, negotiate effectively, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and drive in decision-making • Ability to manage simultaneous operational issues, prioritize and work well under pressure • Ability to build and work with relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to handle complex subjects calmly and to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and written • Ability to work a varied schedule • Ability to travel, as needed What We Offer At American Airlines, we're committed to providing an exceptional experience for our employees.
