Position Overview – Senior Manager, Product Cybersecurity (Remote)

We are seeking a visionary Senior Manager to lead United’s Product Cybersecurity function. This role will command a team of highly skilled security engineers and architects, driving end‑to‑end security design, risk mitigation, and compliance across United’s product portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in risk management, security governance, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Manager, Product Cybersecurity, you will:

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute a comprehensive security vision for United’s product suite, aligning technical roadmaps with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of security engineers, analysts, and consultants; oversee hiring, performance reviews, career development, and succession planning.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct enterprise‑wide threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses; prioritize remediation efforts based on impact, likelihood, and business value.
  • Policy & Governance: Develop, maintain, and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices; ensure compliance with FAA, GDPR, PCI‑DSS, and other relevant regulations.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, software engineers, DevOps teams, legal, and privacy officers to embed security early in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Security Architecture: Design and review secure architectures for cloud, micro‑service, and on‑premise solutions; champion zero‑trust models, encryption strategies, and identity & access management (IAM) frameworks.
  • Incident Response & Governance: Lead response to security incidents, coordinate investigations, and drive root‑cause analysis; maintain readiness through tabletop exercises and continuous improvement.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to communicate security posture to executive leadership and board members.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of emerging threats, industry trends, and regulatory changes; foster a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.

Essential Qualifications (Must‑Haves)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management role overseeing security teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven ability to design and implement security solutions across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), network security, application security, and infrastructure hardening.
  • Risk Management: Demonstrated experience with risk assessment frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, FAIR) and ability to communicate risk to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication abilities; adept at translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business language.
  • Leadership Acumen: Track record of building high‑performing teams, driving accountability, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment.
  • Legal Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice‑to‑Have)

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or Business Administration.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, GSEC, CompTIA Security+, SSCP, CASP+, or OSCP.
  • 12+ years of total experience in information security, including exposure to aviation or transportation sectors.
  • Hands‑on experience with secure DevOps (DevSecOps) tooling, CI/CD pipelines, container security (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Expertise in Voice over IP (VoIP) and unified communications security.
  • Proven success migrating legacy security programs to cloud‑native architectures, including micro‑service security design.
  • Experience conducting security audits, compliance assessments, and third‑party risk reviews.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and lead internal security training programs.
