About Workwarp and the Impactful Mission You’ll Join

At Workwarp, we are pioneering the future of educational support by connecting qualified instructional professionals with schools across the United States that need targeted, high‑quality tutoring and academic guidance. Our remote‑first model empowers educators to make a difference in students’ lives from anywhere, while enjoying flexible work arrangements, competitive compensation, and a culture that celebrates continuous learning. As a Federal Professional Tutor Advisor, you’ll become an essential partner in schools’ efforts to close achievement gaps, boost language acquisition, and provide personalized academic interventions for learners ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Position Overview – Why This Role Matters

We have an urgent need to fill five full‑time Tutor Advisor positions. In this role, you will work directly under the supervision of certified teachers to deliver one‑on‑one and small‑group tutoring, support classroom management, maintain accurate student data, and foster strong home‑school communication. Your contributions will directly influence student performance on state assessments, improve attendance, and strengthen families’ engagement in the learning process.

Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Do Every Day

  • One‑on‑One & Small‑Group Tutoring: Provide targeted instructional support outside regular class time, focusing on reading, writing, mathematics, and language acquisition for students who need additional help.
  • Instructional Material Preparation: Organize, develop, and distribute supplemental learning resources, worksheets, and digital content that align with teachers’ lesson plans.
  • Student Progress Monitoring: Conduct formative assessments, track attendance, and record achievement data in a timely, accurate manner using school‑provided software.
  • Classroom Management Assistance: Support teachers in maintaining an orderly learning environment, managing classroom supplies, and facilitating smooth transitions between activities.
  • Parent & Guardian Engagement: Initiate contact through phone calls, emails, or home visits to discuss student progress, encourage participation in school events, and strengthen home‑school partnerships.
  • Collaboration with School Staff: Attend faculty meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development sessions to share insights and coordinate interventions.
  • Library & Media Center Support: Assist students in locating resources, using research tools, and developing independent study skills.
  • Special Projects & Events: Contribute to newsletters, school announcements, guest speaker logistics, and other extracurricular initiatives as needed.
  • Bilingual Assessment (if applicable): Conduct language proficiency screenings, yearly English acquisition assessments, and maintain eligibility documentation for bilingual programs.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Analyze assessment outcomes to recommend individualized intervention plans and report findings to teachers and administrators.

Essential Qualifications – What You Must Bring

  • Education: Minimum of two years (48 semester credits) of post‑secondary study, an associate’s degree, or equivalent credential recognized by state education authorities.
  • Highly Qualified Status: Meet the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) criteria for paraprofessionals—high school diploma or GED plus the required college credits or successful completion of a state paraprofessional assessment.
  • Teaching‑Related Experience: Demonstrated experience working with K‑12 students in a tutoring, instructional, or classroom support role.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to convey information clearly and empathetically to students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using instructional software, learning management systems, and data entry tools; basic troubleshooting skills are a plus.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, perform light physical tasks, and sustain sedentary work for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications – Nice‑to‑Have Extras

  • Certification or coursework in special education, ESL, or literacy intervention.
  • Experience with remote tutoring platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom).
  • Fluency in a second language, especially Spanish, to support bilingual student populations.
  • Knowledge of state assessment frameworks and data‑analysis techniques.
  • Previous involvement in parent outreach programs or community engagement initiatives.

Core Skills & Competencies – What Sets You Up for Success

  • Instructional Design: Ability to adapt curriculum materials to meet diverse learning styles and academic levels.
  • Analytical Thinking: Skilled at interpreting assessment data to identify gaps and develop targeted remediation plans.
  • Relationship Building: Proven capacity to establish trust with students and families, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Time Management: Effectively balance multiple student caseloads, documentation duties, and collaborative meetings.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a remote setting, adjusting quickly to new technologies, school policies, and shifting student needs.
  • Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality, adhere to ethical standards, and model a growth mindset for students.
