Key Responsibilities – What Your Day Will Look Like

As a Math Tutor in the Excel Zone, you will be the frontline of academic assistance, delivering high‑quality, student‑centered support. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • One‑on‑one tutoring sessions: Provide individualized help on homework, exam preparation, and conceptual understanding for courses such as College Algebra (MAT 1340), Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, and introductory Physics.
  • Small‑group workshops: Facilitate collaborative problem‑solving sessions that encourage peer learning and critical thinking.
  • Curriculum alignment: Ensure that tutoring content aligns with departmental learning objectives and course syllabi, reinforcing classroom instruction.

  • Academic standing: Current enrollment at CCD with a minimum GPA of 2.5; must have successfully completed College Algebra (MAT 1340) and at least one additional mathematics‐related course (e.g., Statistics, Calculus, Physics).
  • Mathematical proficiency: Strong conceptual understanding of algebraic manipulation, functions, geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistical reasoning.
