Position Overview – Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA), PRN Home Health

We are urgently seeking dedicated Occupational Therapist Assistants (OTAs) to join our PRN (as‑needed) team in the Davenport, FL area. Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Do Every Day

  • Deliver skilled occupational therapy services to clients in their homes under the direct supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Assist the OT in evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment plans, and performing periodic re‑evaluations as required.
  • Prepare and submit accurate daily progress notes, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Teach clients and family members therapeutic exercise programs, self‑care techniques, and the proper use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, braces, splints, and prosthetics.
  • Identify and report any adverse drug reactions, side effects, or contraindications observed during therapy sessions to the supervising OT.
  • Document observations, clinical findings, and patient responses in the electronic health record (EHR), and communicate significant changes to the OT and attending physician.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—including Home Health Aides, nurses, and physicians—to coordinate comprehensive discharge planning and follow‑up care.
  • Participate in departmental staff meetings, case conferences, and continuing education sessions to stay current with best practices.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating home visits, ensuring timely reassessments and recertifications in accordance with Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to paraprofessional staff, fostering a collaborative environment that maximizes patient outcomes.

Essential Qualifications – What You Must Have

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current state licensure or certification as an OTA in Florida, meeting all legal requirements.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
