Position Overview – Per Diem CNA Clinical Instructor (No Teaching Experience Required)

We are actively seeking compassionate, experienced nursing professionals to serve as Per Diem Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Clinical Instructors. This role is uniquely designed for bedside nurses who want to share their expertise without committing to a full‑time teaching schedule. You will guide small cohorts of learners through skill‑lab sessions, clinical rotations, and real‑world patient interactions, ensuring they meet all state certification requirements.

Key Highlights:

  • Immediate openings – start as soon as you’re ready.
  • Flexible scheduling – choose 1, 2, 3, or 5 days per week.
  • Remote coordination with on‑site skill labs in South San Francisco, Hayward, Fremont, San Jose, and additional locations.
  • Competitive hourly rate of $40‑$45 per hour, based on experience.
  • Mileage reimbursement for travel between sites.
  • Opportunity to become a state‑certified D&S Headmaster tester.

Core Responsibilities – What You’ll Do Every Day

Instruction & Student Development

  • Lead hands‑on skill‑lab sessions every Friday for the first four weeks of each 6‑week cohort, demonstrating proper CNA techniques such as vital sign measurement, infection control, and patient transfer methods.
  • Facilitate clinical rotations during weeks 4‑6, pairing students with qualified healthcare facilities and supervising their performance in real‑time patient care scenarios.
  • Provide immediate, constructive feedback after each lab and clinical session, documenting progress and areas for improvement in the student’s record.
  • Ensure each student meets the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) certification standards before program completion.
  • Maintain open lines of communication through scheduled office hours, email, and virtual platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.) to answer questions, troubleshoot concerns, and support learner success.

Administrative & Compliance Tasks

  • Update and maintain accurate student files, including immunization records, clinical site approvals, and attendance logs, in compliance with state regulations.
  • Compile and submit required program reports, skills checklists, and data collection forms to the Program Director on a timely basis.
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings with the theory instructor and program director to discuss cohort progress, scheduling adjustments, and any emerging challenges.
  • Stay current with California CNA licensure requirements, safety regulations, and any changes to curriculum standards.

Continuous Improvement & Professional Growth

  • Incorporate innovative teaching methodologies—including simulation, case‑based learning, and digital resources—to enhance student engagement.
  • Seek out and attend professional development workshops, webinars, and continuing education (CE) courses to maintain licensure and expand instructional competencies.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of curriculum materials, skills‑checklists, and assessment tools based on feedback and best‑practice research.

  • Technology Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint) and comfort using virtual learning platforms.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and up‑to‑date state‑required immunizations.
