Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Marketing to join our dynamic faculty beginning January 2024. The ideal candidate will possess a strong quantitative and analytical background, with research interests aligned to marketing strategy, brand management, global marketing, and marketing analytics. Successful applicants will be expected to teach a minimum of two of the following courses:

  • Advertising Management
  • Brand Management
  • Global Marketing
  • Marketing Metrics
  • Marketing Research

Teaching responsibilities will be delivered in a blended format that includes:

  • Face‑to‑face classroom experiences
  • Online delivery through Canvas and Coursera platforms
  • Hybrid models that combine synchronous and asynchronous learning

In addition to teaching, the role emphasizes a robust research agenda, mentorship of doctoral candidates, and active participation in departmental service.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum Development

  • Design, deliver, and continuously improve undergraduate and graduate courses listed above.
  • Utilize innovative pedagogical techniques, including experiential learning, case studies, and data‑driven projects.
  • Integrate technology‑enhanced learning tools (e.g., Canvas, Coursera, simulation software) to maximize student engagement.
  • Assess student performance using diverse methods such as quizzes, projects, presentations, and research papers.

Research & Scholarly Activity

  • Develop and maintain an active research program that targets top‑tier marketing journals (e.g., Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research).
  • Secure external funding from agencies, foundations, or industry partners to support research initiatives.
  • Present findings at leading academic conferences and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the UNT system.
  • Mentor graduate students, guiding them through research design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.

Service & Community Engagement

  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees (e.g., curriculum, faculty hiring, diversity initiatives).
  • Contribute to community outreach programs that bridge academic insights with industry practice.
  • Engage with professional organizations such as the American Marketing Association (AMA) and the Association for Consumer Research (ACR).

Essential Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Marketing (or a closely related field) from an AACSB‑accredited institution, to be completed by the start date.
  • Demonstrated potential for high‑quality scholarly output, with a focus on quantitative and analytical research methods.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence, with evidence of effective instruction (e.g., teaching evaluations, peer reviews).
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, suitable for diverse classroom and scholarly audiences.
  • Readiness to work collaboratively with faculty and graduate students from a variety of cultural and professional backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Strengths

  • Record of publications in top‑ranking marketing journals or a robust pipeline of manuscript submissions.
  • Experience in securing research grants or industry partnerships.
  • Fluency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Arabic, French) and/or prior experience with Hispanic‑Serving Institutions (HSI) or Minority‑Serving Institutions (MSI).
  • Expertise in advanced analytics tools (e.g., R, Python, STATA, SPSS) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Background in teaching online courses or developing digital learning content.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in research, teaching, and service.
